Senate Intel Republican Cornyn Breaks with Burr on Trump Jr Subpoena, “This Smacks of Politics”

Speaking on Thursday, Republican Senator John Cornyn, who is a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, broke from Committee Chairman Richard Burr, who yesterday attempted to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. regarding the Russian investigation.

“At some point, this is not about finding facts,” said Cornyn, adding, “This smacks of politics, and I think we have an important job to do to try the Intelligence Committee out of politics.”

“I can understand Mr. Trump’s frustration, now that the Mueller report has gone public, and finding no evidence of collusion,” said Cornyn, adding, “I can understand his frustration at being requested to come back.”
