President Trump Signs Proclamation to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Friday, President Trump signed an official proclamation which declared Monday, January 15th the “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday,” as a way to further honor the heroic civil rights leader.

President Trump’s proclamation comes shortly after another decision earlier in the week, in which he created a new historic park, dedicated to Dr. King, in Georgia.

The White House provided a live link for Americans to watch as President Trump signed the new proclamation, the president himself later tweeted a video of the event.

President Trump called the signing of the new proclamation his “great honor,” and said “I encourage all Americans to observe this day with appropriate civic, community, and service activities, in honor of Dr. King’s life and legacy.”

By urging all Americans to pay homage to Dr. King by taking part in community-based, service-oriented activities, shows just how much Dr. King’s message means to President Trump.
