President Trump Shows His Respect for the Military During Veterans Day Weekend

During the Veterans Day weekend, President Trump and Vice President Pence showed their deep respect for our military members, and both men went out of their way to bring attention to our heroes in uniform.

The president issued a series of tweets, in which he thanked United States veterans for their bravery and sacrifice to our country.

On Friday, President Trump met with veterans in Vietnam, during his 13-day trip to Asia, praising them as “great warriors” and calling them “national treasures.”

Trump has made no secret of his deep admiration and love for American veterans and military personnel, and has a long history of going out of his way to help them, something he’s worded on since day 1.

After honoring the veterans of Vietnam, calling them “the heroes who fulfill your duty to our nation,” President Trump also tweeted a “happy birthday” to the United States Marine Corps, who celebrated their 242nd birthday.

The following day, Vice President Pence and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke joined in the effort to wash the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, along with his wife, Karen.

Vice President Pence and others used sponges to clean the memorial, despite the cold day, and said it was a “moving start to Veterans Day.”

With President Trump and Vice President Pence so committed to helping our veterans, including promising a much-needed overhaul of the VA, it’s obvious why the president has so much support from our military servicemen and women.
