Trump Optimistic Denuclearization of North Korea Possible

Over the past week, North Korea has indicated a willingness to cooperate with the U.S. regarding nuclear disarmament, as well as a possible meeting with President Trump.

The nation’s dictator, Kim Jong-un, has sparred with the president and other nations for the past year, after repeatedly testing intercontinental ballistic missiles, advancing their nuclear arsenal, and making direct threats against the United States.

Now, after tough sanctions imposed by President Trump, as well as some harsh rhetoric, the North Korean leader appears willing to talk, and has promised to halt missile testing throughout the duration of the negotiations. This was once hailed as an impossible task by the mainstream media, but has now become a very real possibility.

On Saturday, President Trump announced, via Twitter, that he “believes [North Korea] will honor that commitment!”

President Trump said that the “deal with North Korea” is “very much in the making,” and added that, should the negotiations prove successful, it would prove to be “very good” for the world.
