On Thursday, President Trump signed an executive order, which imposed new tariffs on imported steel and aluminum.
Democrat and former Ohio Congressman, Dennis Kucinich, appeared on Fox News for a Saturday morning interview, in which he praised Trump’s decision.
“This is an important moment,” said Kucinich, who is running for Governor of Ohio, adding, “Ohio’s lost so many jobs because of these bad trade agreements. Finally, we’re seeing a correction here.”
“We can’t just yield to threats,” Kucinich said, in response to complaints from the European Union and other countries. “We’ve ended up being the suckers of the world in the name of free trade, and free trade has to be fair. It’s not fair.”
Kucinich said that the American infrastructure, which President Trump and his administration have vowed to overhaul, should be rebuilt with American steel, saying, “It’s about time we stood up for manufacturing in America.”
